Fetterman Challenges Trump’s Persistent 2020 Election Fraud Narrative
Cybersecarmor.com – U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has publicly criticized President Donald Trump for repeatedly bringing up unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud from the 2020 presidential race. The senator’s comments came shortly after Trump delivered a nationally televised address during which he accused China of meddling in American elections.
Trump’s Claims and Fetterman’s Response
During his primetime speech on July 16, the president characterized the American electoral system as fundamentally broken and highly susceptible to manipulation. Trump referenced declassified intelligence reports suggesting that Beijing attempted to sway the results of both the 2018 midterm elections and the 2020 presidential contest. According to Trump, Chinese operatives compromised voter databases and appropriated approximately 220 million voter records from various states throughout the United States.
The president asserted that this operation represented “the largest compromise of election data in history” and was orchestrated by Beijing specifically to benefit Joe Biden’s campaign.
Fetterman addressed these assertions during his appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” program on July 19. The Pennsylvania senator expressed frustration with Trump’s ongoing fixation on events that occurred nearly six years prior.
“I don’t know why the president is dragging up all of this stuff,” Fetterman remarked. “You’re the president. Do something positive, and you are talking about 2020.”
The senator emphasized that the 2020 election outcome has been thoroughly validated. He noted that Pennsylvania, where he served as lieutenant governor during that election cycle, cast its votes for Biden and that the process was conducted with integrity.
“That’s been settled over six years ago,” Fetterman stated. “It’s deeply unhelpful, and that distracts important things, especially like the Iranian war right now.”
Addressing the Migrant Voter Claims
Fetterman also responded to Trump’s suggestion that more than 250,000 migrants might be registered to vote. The senator indicated that such evidence would warrant a reevaluation of his position on the matter.
“That was the voice of Pennsylvania, and they picked Joe Biden in 2020,” Fetterman said. “That’s a fact.”
However, he maintained that no credible proof has emerged to support these allegations. He pointed out that Pennsylvania contains 67 counties, with the overwhelming majority being strongly Republican and having never experienced any form of electoral fraud.
“But there’s no evidence, and I don’t expect that we will see any of that,” Fetterman explained. “And I also would remind people, in Pennsylvania, out of 67 counties, (the) vast, vast, vast majority of them are deep red counties, and they have never encountered any kinds of fraud.”
Trump’s Shifting Stance on China
Trump’s position regarding China has undergone notable changes. Initially, he alleged that Beijing interfered in both the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidential election. Subsequently, he suggested that China’s behavior had evolved since Biden assumed office.
“I think China’s maybe a little bit different today than it was then,” Trump said. “But look, they do things. And we do things to them. I’ll be honest. We do things to them, too. It’s not a one-way street. But we’ll be talking to them.”
For nearly six years, Trump has consistently maintained that widespread voter fraud occurred during the 2020 election, despite the Department of Justice concluding that no such fraud existed. His most recent comments came during the July 16 address, where he described the electoral infrastructure as exceptionally vulnerable.
