Rubio Outlines Limited Administrative Role

Secretary of State Marco Rubio holds the ultimate authority to approve or deny the extradition if U.S. courts determine the legal process can move forward. During a diplomatic visit to the Philippines on July 22, Rubio emphasized that the administration’s involvement would be minimal. According to Sky News, he explained that there was “no role” for the administration to play while the case remains before the courts, and possibly never at all. “I’m not going to opine on something that’s still working through a legal process,” Rubio told reporters.

Joseph McBride, who represents the Tate brothers, responded to Leavitt’s comments in a statement provided to TMZ. He noted that while Leavitt is an effective spokesperson, she does not hold the final decision-making power. “Ms. Leavitt is great, but she is not the President or the Secretary of State,” McBride explained. “There is no extradition without the Secretary of State’s signature. Detailed Charges Against Both Brothers

The Crown Prosecution Service unveiled an extensive list of accusations on the day of the brothers’ arrest. Andrew Tate faces seven new rape counts, three charges for arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three assault counts resulting in actual bodily harm, and 19 additional offenses related to indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Tristan Tate confronts one count of sexual assault, two rape charges, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Federal documents that were unsealed on July 20 reveal that three women submitted complaints to British officials regarding both brothers.

Two of these women accused Andrew Tate of rape and assault in incidents occurring in the United Kingdom during 2014 and 2015. A third woman alleged that Tristan Tate raped and assaulted her during a long-term relationship that commenced in 2012. According to the filings, the women claimed they were frequently choked by the brothers, sometimes losing consciousness, prior to being raped.

One alleged victim described having consensual sexual relations with Andrew Tate in 2014 after meeting him through a dating application. Later, when Tate visited her residence in Manchester, England, she said he pinned her down during intercourse. She alleged that she struggled to breathe and feared he would not stop and might kill her, according to the court documents.

Broader Context and Political Connections

These new accusations add to 21 original charges already filed in the United Kingdom, bringing the total number of charges against the Tate brothers to 59. Following their arrest, McBride characterized the accusations as “a political hit ordered by a dying empire” in a public statement.

Beyond the United Kingdom, the brothers also face legal proceedings in Romania and are named in several civil lawsuits alleging sexual violence and trafficking. With millions of social media followers between them, Andrew and Tristan Tate remain prominent figures within the “manosphere”—a network of online influencers, websites, and communities that promote fitness, lifestyle, and wealth-building advice alongside misogynistic and anti-feminist perspectives while claiming to respect women.

During the 2024 election campaign, Trump actively courted manosphere supporters, including appearances on podcasts hosted by allies of the Tate brothers. The New York Times reported in December 2025 that the brothers had maintained long-standing friendships with Trump allies, including his youngest son Barron Trump, who communicated with Andrew Tate via Zoom calls.

When the Tate brothers were initially arrested in Romania in 2022, Donald Trump Jr. took to social media to declare that the prosecution represented “absolute insanity.” Despite these connections, the Trump administration has consistently denied any special relationship with the brothers, dismissing reports from The Times and other outlets as “fake news.”
