Investigators press ahead nearly three weeks on from Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance
Search enters 20th day as analysis continues
As the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its 20th day, investigators are intensifying efforts to analyze cellphone data, video footage, and interviews, a spokesperson from the agency stated on Friday. This includes the difficult task of recovering more images of the suspect from the backend of Guthrie’s security system, according to the official. In Tucson, Arizona, the FBI’s field office maintains a fully operational command post, where personnel are being rotated to ensure fresh perspectives on the case.
Chris Nanos, Pima County Sheriff, shared during an interview on Friday that the team is making progress in determining the suspect’s attire, including the items seen on the masked figure captured by Guthrie’s camera. The 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack, previously noted as a Walmart-exclusive product, is a key clue in this process. Additionally, authorities are checking gun stores to identify the holster and firearm linked to the suspect, as well as reviewing possible clothing items such as pants, shoes, and a jacket.
Key evidence has been gathered from Guthrie’s home, where her doorbell camera disconnected at 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1. Her pacemaker also lost connection with her phone less than an hour later. The family reported her missing that same day, after she was last seen on Jan. 31, dropped off at home shortly before 10 p.m. according to a timeline released by Nanos. Investigators believe she was taken during the night, though no suspects or motives have been confirmed.
“We’re not quitting. We’ll find her,” Nanos emphasized when asked about his message to the Guthrie family.
Meanwhile, the FBI awaits results from a partial DNA analysis conducted at the scene. Street barriers were added outside Guthrie’s residence on Saturday to manage traffic for media and crime enthusiasts. The investigation remains ongoing, with no definitive answers yet.
