Cybersecarmor.com – A Carnival Cruise Line ship rescued a mariner from a disabled sailing vessel this week.
The incident took place on Aug. 26 while Carnival Conquest was en route to the Caribbean island of Grenada.
“After receiving a distress relay from rescue authorities, the Conquest diverted to the vessel's location and safely brought the sole occupant aboard,” Carnival told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “The individual remains in the care of the ship's team as Carnival Conquest proceeds to St. George's, Grenada, as scheduled.”
The cruise line did not identify the person who was rescued. The U.S. Coast Guard did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The news comes after MSC Cruises’ MSC Musica ship aided a vessel in distress in late July. The ship was sailing to Ibiza at the time.
Silversea Cruises’ Silver Whisper also helped rescue a man from a disabled sailing vessel nearly 500 miles off the Oregon coast in late May.
