Russian attacks leave three dead in Ukraine

Casualties in Ukraine

A series of drone and missile strikes targeted Ukraine by Russia on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, according to Ukrainian authorities. Among the victims in Kyiv, a 12-year-old boy was identified as one of two casualties, with 18 others sustaining injuries, as detailed by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. An additional fatality occurred in Dnipro, a southeastern city, as noted by a Ukrainian official, while incidents were also reported in other locations across the country.

“A 12-year-old boy was among two victims in the capital,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated on Telegram. “At least 18 people were injured.”

Rescuers in Kyiv’s central Podilsky district extracted a mother and child from the remains of a 16-storey residential building that collapsed during the attacks. In the north of the capital, four emergency medical personnel were among those wounded due to repeated shelling.

Cross-Border Impact

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone strike in the southern Krasnodar Krai region of Russia claimed the lives of two children, aged five and 14, as confirmed by Governor Veniamin Kondratyev via Telegram.

“Two children, aged five and 14, were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack,” said Governor Veniamin Kondratyev on Telegram.

Additional casualties were reported in Kharkiv, where a 77-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were injured by a drone strike. In Odesa’s southern port city, five individuals were wounded during an attack.

Peace Talks Stalled

The conflict in Ukraine has entered its fifth year, with multiple peace negotiations underway, mediated by the United States. However, the talks have come to a halt following US President Donald Trump’s redirection of attention to the Middle East war.

Kyiv has consistently advocated for a comprehensive and stable ceasefire as the initial phase of discussions aimed at securing a permanent resolution to Russia’s invasion. In contrast, Moscow demands agreement on the peace accord prior to any such pause, leading to Kyiv’s claims that Russia lacks genuine commitment to the conflict’s conclusion.
