Razzie Awards 2026: Anti-Oscars name ‘War Of The Worlds’ as Worst Picture
In line with tradition, the Golden Raspberry Awards—often dubbed the Razzies—precede the Oscars, spotlighting the year’s most underwhelming cinematic contributions. While some may take aim at the Razzies for their harsh critiques, others appreciate their role in balancing the cinematic scales.
This year’s 46th edition of the awards crowned ‘War of the Worlds’—featuring Ice Cube—as the most disappointing film of the year. The Amazon-sponsored adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel is a glaring example of cinematic failure, according to the Razzie committee.
It’s difficult to dispute this evaluation, as the film’s laughably poor execution leaves little room for argument.
The film’s dominance in the Razzie Awards further underscores its status as a cinematic misfire, securing five awards including Worst Picture, Worst Director (Rich Lee), Worst Actor (Ice Cube), Worst Screenplay (Kenny Golde and Marc Hyman), and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel.
Although ‘War of the Worlds’ claimed nearly all the Razzie Awards, only four additional films received honors this year. Disney’s Snow White remake secured two awards: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo, both attributed to its CGI dwarfs. This outcome is hard to contest.
Rebel Wilson was recognized with the Worst Actress title for her action-comedy ‘Bride Hard,’ while Scarlet Rose Stallone, Sylvester Stallone’s daughter, earned Worst Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Gunslingers.’
Kate Hudson received the Redeemer Award for her Oscar-nominated role in ‘Song Sung Blue,’ highlighting her resilience despite past nominations. Hudson has been nominated for acting honors in several films, including ‘My Best Friend’s Girl’ (2008), ‘Mother’s Day’ (2016), and ‘Music’ (2021).
