Raffles and One&Only head to Courchevel’s slopes with Alpine hotel expansions
Luxury Hotels Raffles and One&Only Expand Alpine Presence with New Developments in Courchevel
Raffles and One Only head to Courchevel – Two of the world’s premier luxury hotel brands, Raffles Hotels & Resorts and One&Only, are set to make their mark in the French Alps by introducing new high-end resort residences in the iconic ski village of Courchevel 1850. These developments, which will debut in the upcoming 2028 winter season and 2030, respectively, aim to redefine the standards of alpine hospitality by offering exclusive amenities, breathtaking vistas, and a seamless blend of relaxation and adventure.
Raffles Courchevel: A New Chapter in Alpine Luxury
Located in the heart of the French Alps, Courchevel 1850 has long been celebrated for its unparalleled access to skiing, serene mountain surroundings, and a reputation for refined luxury. The upcoming Raffles Courchevel project will introduce the brand’s first-ever alpine resort, positioning it as a landmark addition to the region’s elite hospitality scene. The resort is set to open its doors in the 2028 winter season, marking a significant milestone in Raffles’ global expansion.
The development is a joint venture between Raffles and Art de Vivre, an investment company with a focus on luxury lifestyle and hospitality ventures. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to creating a unique and immersive experience for guests. According to Omer Acar, CEO of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, the collaboration is driven by a mutual dedication to excellence. “We are thrilled to partner with Art de Vivre, whose vision and dedication align perfectly with our own, to craft an exceptional and completely unique resort experience in the mountains,” he remarked.
“The selection of Courchevel underscores our commitment to thoughtfully expanding the Raffles brand in the most coveted resort destinations worldwide.”
Raffles Courchevel will be situated within the Jardin Alpin, the highest and most exclusive area of Courchevel 1850. Guests will enjoy panoramic views of the Tarentaise Valley, with certain accommodations featuring private balconies for an added touch of indulgence. The resort is designed to elevate the alpine experience, offering distinctive dining spaces such as two restaurants with winter gardens and expansive terraces. Additionally, an elegant tea lounge will provide a refined setting for leisurely afternoons.
Off the slopes, the facility will provide a range of wellness-focused amenities. Thermal experiences, a panoramic swimming pool, and a dedicated fitness center will allow visitors to unwind and rejuvenate after a day of skiing. Acar emphasized the importance of these features, stating that they reflect the brand’s dedication to offering a holistic retreat for discerning travelers.
One&Only Resort: Elevating the Courchevel Experience
Meanwhile, Kerzner International, the parent company of One&Only, has announced its own venture in Courchevel. Scheduled to open in 2030, the One&Only resort will occupy the site of the former Courcheneige Hotel, strategically located near the Raffles Courchevel project at the summit of the Jardin Alpin. This proximity ensures that both resorts will complement each other while maintaining their distinct identities.
The new One&Only property will feature a combination of elegant guest rooms and expansive suites, each offering sweeping mountain vistas. The design philosophy centers on merging luxury with the natural beauty of the surroundings, providing an environment where comfort and scenery coexist. Dining options will range from casual slope-side meals to sophisticated après-ski dinners, catering to guests who prioritize gastronomy and social engagement as integral parts of their alpine journey.
“With One&Only, we will bring a new spirit of alpine luxury to Courchevel,” said Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International. “One that celebrates the beauty, energy and soul of the French Alps, while inviting guests to experience the rare sense of freedom that defines One&Only.”
As a wellness-focused destination, the One&Only resort will include an indoor/outdoor wet circuit, private treatment spaces, and specialized recovery facilities. These amenities will be tailored to address the physical demands of alpine activities, offering therapies for post-ski muscle rejuvenation and relaxation. The resort will also feature a limited collection of One&Only Private Homes, allowing guests to establish a permanent presence in the area.
Juan Aguilar, President of Real Estate for Kerzner International, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “Courchevel represents one of the most exclusive residential and hospitality markets in the world, making this a landmark opportunity for Kerzner to bring One&Only to the French Alps.” The development is seen as a testament to the company’s ability to create enduring value in top-tier destinations, combining its expertise in ultra-luxury experiences with innovative residential concepts.
Harmonizing Tradition and Innovation in the Alpine Landscape
Courchevel 1850, a premier high-altitude resort, is not only known for its ski slopes but also for its vibrant culture, exclusive shopping, and Michelin-starred culinary offerings. The addition of Raffles and One&Only properties further solidifies its status as a global hub for luxury travel. The Raffles Courchevel, with its focus on design and service, will draw on the brand’s heritage of blending tradition with modernity. In contrast, the One&Only resort will emphasize a contemporary interpretation of alpine elegance, creating a dynamic contrast within the same destination.
Both projects reflect a growing trend in luxury tourism, where resorts are increasingly designed to cater to the holistic needs of guests. The Raffles offering will highlight architectural sophistication and curated experiences, while the One&Only development will prioritize accessibility and a more integrated connection to the local environment. These efforts are expected to enhance the visitor experience, offering a range of options from transient stays to long-term residential investments.
Jonathan Lau, co-founder and CEO of Art de Vivre, praised the partnership, stating, “Courchevel 1850 is a destination that demands the very highest standards in design, service, and execution. In Raffles, we have found a partner whose storied heritage, cultural depth, and values are equal to this ambition.” His comments align with the broader goal of these projects: to create spaces that not only meet but exceed the expectations of luxury travelers.
The combined presence of Raffles and One&Only in Courchevel is anticipated to elevate the local tourism industry, attracting a diverse clientele from around the world. Their shared commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability ensures that these developments will contribute to the region’s reputation as a premier alpine destination. As the 2028 and 2030 openings approach, anticipation is building for what promises to be a transformative chapter in Courchevel’s luxury landscape.
These expansions also signify a strategic move by both brands to tap into the unique appeal of alpine living. By integrating seamlessly with the natural surroundings, the resorts aim to provide a sanctuary where guests can immerse themselves in the tranquility of the mountains while enjoying world-class services and amenities. The Jardin Alpin, with its elevated location and exclusive appeal, serves as the perfect backdrop for these ventures, offering an environment that is both challenging and rewarding for travelers seeking the pinnacle of luxury in the heart of the French Alps.
