“This is an encouraging step forward, but it does not mean she is out of danger,” the center’s post added, before thanking the public and fans for the “outpouring of support, encouragement, and kindness shown to our team throughout her care.”

During an earlier update on July 27, the facility described Jackie’s status as “stable but critical,” noting that she was undergoing multiple prophylactic treatments designed to bolster her physical condition. “Cases like this can be incredibly complex, and we will continue adjusting her treatment as new information becomes available,” the center said.

Jackie received what staff called a “life-saving” blood transfusion from another eagle during the previous week, which initially produced “encouraging improvement.” However, on Saturday, July 25, she encountered a setback when “her blood values declined again,” as documented by the center. Following this decline, she demonstrated renewed recovery.

“Since then, she has improved once more,” the facility said, noting “she is eating on her own, her energy and alertness have noticeably improved, and she has become much more feisty during feedings.”

One of the most promising indicators in Jackie’s recovery involves her packed cell volume, which measures the proportion of red blood cells circulating in her bloodstream. This measurement stood at 8% prior to the weekend but climbed to 16% by Monday, July 27. Although this value remains beneath typical ranges, the center characterized it as positive progress.

“While this remains below normal, it is an encouraging improvement, and we will continue to monitor her bloodwork daily as we keep a close eye on her progress,” the center said.

Following the confrontation, Jackie was discovered on the ground near Dana Point Park, roughly 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles, where she had originally been rescued. She has since been receiving rehabilitation at Ojai Raptor Center, situated at a distance from the nest she constructed alongside her mate, Shadow.
