Savannah Guthrie visits ‘TODAY’ studio as she plans to eventually return to show
Savannah Guthrie Visits ‘TODAY’ Studio Amid Ongoing Search for Missing Mother
Savannah Guthrie, one of the co-hosts of the ‘TODAY’ show, made an appearance at the NBC morning program’s set on Thursday. This visit occurred as the investigation into her mother’s disappearance entered its 32nd day. The Guthrie family has been searching for Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old, since she went missing on February 1. Nancy was last seen the night before her disappearance, around 9:45 p.m., after having dinner at her daughter Annie’s residence.
“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her ‘TODAY’ colleagues,” a representative for the show stated in a release. “While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home,” the spokesperson added.
Although the visit was not broadcast, it provided a moment of emotional connection for the team. Jenna Bush Hager, another co-anchor, expressed her feelings on air, saying, “She said that she has the intention to return to the show, even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it’s also her home and where she feels so loved.”
Family’s Emotional Support and Search Continues
Sheinelle Jones, Bush Hager’s co-host during the third hour of the show, shared her thoughts on Savannah’s return. “We’re not out of the storm, but there’s a light somewhere even in the midst of the storm,” Jones remarked. She also told Savannah, “Whenever you are ready, we are here.”
Photographs from outside the ‘TODAY’ studio, captured by an Associated Press photographer, show Savannah visibly emotional, wiping tears and hugging her coworkers. The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s recovery. On February 24, Savannah stated that while her family believes her mother “can come home,” they also “know that she may be lost” and may “already be gone.”
Clues and Suspects in the Case
The FBI obtained footage from a doorbell camera depicting an armed and masked individual outside the Guthrie home on the morning of Nancy’s disappearance. Investigators have since labeled this person as a suspect, though no public identification has been made. The suspect is described as a man between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build, and was seen wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.
As the search continues, Savannah’s presence at the ‘TODAY’ studio signifies both her resilience and the emotional toll of the situation. The show remains a source of support for her as she navigates this challenging time.
