Legal Allegations Against Richard Tice’s Company

The Sunday Times has claimed that a property investment firm, Quidnet REIT Limited, allegedly violated tax laws by not remitting a 20% withholding tax on dividends distributed to Richard Tice and his offshore trust. According to the report, Tice is said to have received at least £91,000 in additional payments due to this oversight. The paper highlights that the firm failed to deduct the required levy before transferring profits to Tice.

“Revenue and customs have been paid in full, and this story is just an attempt to smear a successful businessman turned politician who is giving hope to millions,” Tice stated in the report.

She alleges that Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson is actively preventing the publication of the document, citing fears it might hinder her career prospects. Phillipson previously mentioned the need for time to finalize the updated code, as reported by the Sunday Times.

Royal Navy’s Operational Challenges

The Mail on Sunday reported that defense sources have informed the paper that the Royal Navy may seek French assistance to intercept Russian vessels in British waters. This is attributed to the UK fleet’s difficulty in meeting current operational demands. In response, the Ministry of Defence denied the need for external help, asserting that British waters are consistently safeguarded and monitored with available resources.

Chagos Islands Deal and International Relations

The Sunday Express headlines what it calls the “U-turn of all U-turns” following Sir Keir Starmer’s decision to abandon the Chagos Islands agreement. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has claimed this marks a victory for the prime minister’s position, emphasizing her party’s sustained opposition to the deal. However, the Observer notes that the government has not completely withdrawn the proposal, suggesting it reflects a broader strain in US-UK diplomatic ties.
